Hi Bev Weve recently taken over a small yard in Randjiesfontein, we "inherited" a horse and owner, who has paid once, in march, and nothing since. He refuses to sign the contract we sent. The horse had laminitis, which seems to be fine, and was incredibly thin, so were trying to feed him up and are giving probiotics, suppliments etc and its costing us a fortune. Is there anyway we can either force the owner to pay, or sell / give the horse away?
Hi Gloudi, I can't really advise on your horse's diet - it all depends on the work the horse is doing, and his present weight condition. I have found that good quality fodder is one of the most important aspects of diet.
It is great to see all those cart horses doing so well.
I think that I am finally winning the battle with a tb that I purchased off the track. But after adding some full fat soya on top of his diet he is doing much better. He is 9 and gets bran, molasses, 14%, lusern and full fat 2x daily. Think I should add or take away from it?
Hi, I need some assistance. I recently took in an old pony. He is lovely but he has a problem with his coat. I have been told it is a form of mange what can I use on it? Do you have any idea what might help? We really would appreciate any suggestions.
Hi Bev, I am currently an Equine Science Student and I would love to help out with anything at the HHCU. When will it be possible for me to come over and help out?
Also, there's a "stolen Horses" forum on the Neigh-Bours site: http://www.neigh-bours.co.za/ - definitely put them on there with photos if you have ... literally hundreds of SA riders and horse lovers from all over SA chat there every day
Hello. Can someone please give me information on what to do if your horse has been stolen? That is besides contacting the police and the livestock theft unit. Thanks

We are having major problems with the apaloosa - condition wise he is thin, but not as thin as some we have seen. We are concerned that he has a virus of some sort, we are calling the vet out for the second time today.
