Give Megan a ring, Sands, it depends if she has any 'in patients' if she goes into the office or not
Sands on Tuesday 12 February 2008 - 12:24:40
Hi,just want to find out if the ECHCU is open on Saturdays?
Elke on Tuesday 12 February 2008 - 11:01:42
Bev: HI Merwitz specialises in Saddlebreds training aids. they work a lot with weights around their ankles, which encourages the high stepping action, cavalettos are also a good training aid for that. I will see what I can find more specifically
Bev Seabourne on Tuesday 12 February 2008 - 09:04:27
I am looking for information on training methods of Saddlebreds
Elke on Monday 11 February 2008 - 20:00:27
Bev: we also have a saddler cross, and my husband has some experience with purebreds, what do you need
Meryl on Monday 11 February 2008 - 18:37:25
Bev: two of mine are Saddler cross; and two other owners at Spires have saddler crosses, if that helps?
Bev Seabourne on Monday 11 February 2008 - 15:51:01
Do we have any American Saddler owners who are members?
Hanlie on Monday 11 February 2008 - 13:32:17
Hi Bev, I thought as much, but like you say, even gently putting them down with love is more than the suffering they had. You must share with me one day how keep sane doing this and seeing the hurt. I can only pray for the people who help our 4 legged friends, because I crack at the sight of a photo!
Meryl on Monday 11 February 2008 - 12:29:58
Hi Cindy, look under "Can you home us" on the left hand side
Bev Seabourne on Monday 11 February 2008 - 11:35:05
HI there Cindy! The status of horses for rehoming changes from day to day, so being a bit technically challenged, I am trying to keep it up to date, but not always successfully! I am trying to get to grips with this today, and will upload (with a bit of luck) either later today or tomorrow morning. Please fill in an application to adopt a horse/donkey from us from 'download documents' on the left hand side of the opening page, and send it to us with as much detail as you can give - it all help us to match the right horse to the right owner!

Bev Seabourne on Monday 11 February 2008 - 11:30:57
Dear Hanli,
Not all of the photos of our horses are success stories......
although from a humane point of view they are a success, because their suffering has ended. We have had to accept that we cannot save them all, much as we want to, because they are just too far gone. They are gently put to sleep with love and kindness - thats the very best any of us can do.
Cindy H on Monday 11 February 2008 - 10:51:57
Hi
Where do i find pics of your horses that are up for adoption. Keep up the good work.God Bless.
Hanlie on Monday 11 February 2008 - 10:35:20
Hi Bev, just for interest sake, the photos that appear on the top right corner, are they all success strories in the end? I do hope so, 'cause then I don't fall apart so much everytime I see a new one... so glad to hear the donkey is doing so well, bless your hearts.

hi i am a new member from Port Alfred in the Eastern cape...where about is the HHCU situated in the Eastern cape? Sandra Cherry
Bev Seabourne on Thursday 07 February 2008 - 16:16:10
We feed whatever we get donated, Cindy, but also have to buy in. If we get a very emaciated horse or donkey in, they are initially only given hay, and if they are REALLY skinny, we give small amounts often till everything starts working! After about 3 days, we start introducing small amounts of concentrates, and providing the animal can cope with that, increase the feed slowly. We DO spoil them all with barley - it's something we have done since we started up many years ago - it is their treat!

What is most imortant is a good dewormer, and if there is a heavy infestation, we will deworm them three times at the recommended intervals.

Thank you for the compliment!

Hi I am a new member. I am from PMB. What sort of food do you give your horses to get them looking so well.

Kerrie on Tuesday 05 February 2008 - 16:20:21
I'm a new member and I am a South African currently living in Hong Kong. I often visit your website and always end up in tears. Some are because I cannot believe how people can be so cruel to such beautiful animals and others are tears of joy from seeing all the wonderful work you do for our equine friends in South Africa. I just want to say thank you for caring and wish I was close by so that I could help! Next time I am in South Africa I will definately visit! Keep up the good work and God bless all of you!
Bev Seabourne on Tuesday 05 February 2008 - 16:14:15
