Bev thank you so much for following up on a complaint that I sent to you in May. I realize how busy you must all be but it is such a relief to know that you are helping these animals, thank you all for the wonderful work that you do.
I would like to share with all, but especially any prospective homes for horses released in future from OBP... I was blessed to be a part of the "welcoming committee" that received 4 of the first released "batch" from OBP, at Rustfontein - the African Blessings farm. The anticipation of their arrival as we waitied for the carrier to arrive was immense and tears streamed down my face when the trock stopped outside the stables. Once we had managed to get halters on to them, we opened the doors and lead out 4 (very frightened) beautiful horses - a mare, a filly and 2 colts. I could again not hold back the tears as we lead them to their paddock and got them settled in. They are doing so well - better every day. I would just like to encourage anyone who is able to offer a good home to any of the OBP horses in future to do so. You will be rewarded a million times over!
All of the laws are fairly similar, but in South Africa, we have a problem with the public not obeying the laws, and the police and courts not supporting us as they should - I think that is the main problem!
Dear Bev, It sounds in your blog alot more work than I think all of us thought! How is the S.A animal protection act differant to the ones..Say in ..America? I used to watch alot of the animal rescue programmes and they would warn the owners several times, confiscate the animals and end up in court. Very much what you are talking about. Thank you for all yours and your team's work.
