Report an abuse case

Each complaint that we investigate must be backed up by photographic evidence. Photographs are the best evidence we can produce should the matter be taken to court.

If you are able to take a photgraph of the problem you have seen, please email it to the Unit along with the complaint form below. This will be of great help to us. Obviously, the clearer the photograph the better.If the photograph is dated, this is a big help.

We need photographs with a clear picture of the animal/s you are reporting – preferably with the whole horse/donkey in the picture, where markings can clearly be seen. Remember that we may have to identify that animal from your photograph. If you are reporting an underweight animal, illustrate this by taking a photo from the front, side, and rear of the animal. Try to ensure that the lighting is good. If there is no feed/fodder/water, try to illustrate this in a photograph.

If there is a problem with tack, photograph it clearly – and if possible, with a photograph of the tack in use.

If someone has beaten or maimed an animal, a photograph of this occurring would be excellent evidence. Photographs of specific injuries must also clearly show the animal that has been injured.

To prove where the suspected offence has occurred, a photograph of the facilities, and if possible a signboard are helpful. If an offence is suspected to have taken
place on a vehicle, photograph the vehicle and the number plate.
